BREWERY Blues at Cirencester’s Kings Head Hotel vaulted cellar lounge welcomes back The Rebecca Downes Band on Friday, July 10 offering the very best in the UK soul/blues arena.
Fast establishing herself at the vanguard of UK blues, Beccy has toured Europe with blues luminaries like the Norman Beaker Band, Chris Farlowe (of Handbags and Gladrags fame), The Climax Chicago Blues Band and John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers amongst many others.
Her powerful vocal delivery draws on influences from the golden age of jazz and blues with bang up-to-date renditions that reveal uncanny similarities with blues icon Etta James, and the full on power of a young Tina Turner.
In the studio her close collaboration with co-writer Steve Birkett, has put together with a band of outstanding UK and US bluesmen, an accomplished collection of material on her debut album entitled ‘Back to the Start’ distributed by Real to Real the internet extension of Ditto Music.
In support is Robert Chaney, a London based American singer songwriter who is attracting a lot of interest at the moment. Indeed his new album Cracked Window Frames featured as Album of the Month on Folk Radio UK.
