FAIRFORD ladies choir, A Splash of Red, will be hitting the high notes with a charity concert called Summer Song at St Mary’s Church on Saturday, July 4 at 7pm in aid of HelpMadina, a local charity formed by Dr Veronica from Fairford providing health care in Sierra Leone.

The concert is a collaboration with a choir from Aston in Oxfordshire.

As Splash of Red was started five years ago by Claire Leeto raise funds, with parents, staff and friends from Fairford Primary School.

“We had around 20 people and it was meant to be a one-off event,” Claire explained. “Five years later we've now got over 50 members and are going strong. We are all ages, shapes and sizes, and from all walks of life. Lots of the members have never sung in choirs before but I'm a huge believer that everyone can sing given the chance.”

The high point for the group so far has been singing on the main stage at the recent Lechlade Festival.

The group have also sung with the Swindon Male Voice Choir and at the Barnsley and Fairford Festivals.

• Tickets are priced at £8 for adults, £5 for concessions and free for under-16s. Tickets will be available from 7A (Fairford cafe) and Fairford Post Office or on the door. Go to : www.asplashofred.org.uk for more information about the singing group.
