CIRENCESTER’S live music show Brewery Blues has found a new venue for its bi-monthly performances at the Kings Head Vaulted cellar lounge.

This comes after a highly-successful five years residency at the New Brewery Art’s Niccol Theatre.

Brewery Blues is vacating its current home to enable building work to begin later in 2015 as New Brewery Arts redevelop their theatre building to provide the town with The Barrel Store, which will consist of visitor accommodation, for families, groups and individuals.

The Barrel Store is set to increase arts participation opportunities at the centre while helping the charity’s sustainability.

Brewery Blues promoter John Drummond said “We shall be sad to leave the Niccol. It holds many great memories of the terrific shows we’ve held there and the fantastic warm audience that we have attracted – I hope they will follow us to our new location.

I’d like to acknowledge the part that NBA and in particular CEO Ali Russell has played in helping us provide the town with credible showcase for the area’s rich vein of young talent and also in allowing us to bring some of the UK’s top touring musicians to Cirencester.”

The new venue is situated within the Kings Head’s brand new showpiece £7.5m redevelopment.

The subterranean vaulted Cellar Lounge is reminiscent of the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool but with the ambience and cache of a West Country Ronnie Scott’s.

The hotel aims to attract music enthusiasts not just from the locality, but from further afield, to enjoy top notch multi-genre musical performances along with the hotel’s facilities.

Meanwhile, there are two Brewery Blues shows left at the old Niccol venue.

They will take place on Saturday, February 14, Valentine’s Night , featuring Ben Maggs who will treat the audience to a taster from his soon to be released (and yet to be named) new album.

On the bill is Bristolian Elles Bailey, Marie-Louise Flexen with her Mary Lou Revue Vintage Cabaret and Familiars, a four-piece alt-pop, rock band from Cirencester.

The last gig is on Friday, February 21, when the Curious Little Big Band will be back for the very last Brewery Blues show at the Niccol.

Performances at Kings Head are likely to start early in March – details are yet to be announced but you can count on more blockbusters in true Brewery Blues style.
