ENJOY an evening of music in South Cerney, featuring two local choirs Swindon Male Voice Choir, Director of Music Max Brockman-More, and A Splash of Red (Fairford’s Ladies’Choir), Director of Music Claire Lee.

The two choirs will present a varied programme, anything from opera to music from the shows.

The Swindon Male Voice Choir was known as the “Great Western Railway Running Sheds Male Voice Choir” when it started in 1919, and has continued ever since, although its name is now a little snappier. It is an award-winning choir, having won two cups in a Cheltenham choral competition, and is well-known in the area for raising funds for charities.

A Splash of Red was formed by Fairford primary school teacher Claire Lee several years ago to raise money for a specific cause. So enthusiastic were the members that they have continued from strength to strength and now have about 45 singers.

The concert will take place in All Hallows’ Church South Cerney on Saturday, January 17 at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7.50 and are available from: alanfisher@rfranklinway.fsworld.co.uk, Alan Fisher on 01285 860434, South Cerney Post Office, or on the door if not sold out. Children aged 16 and under are free. Drinks will be available.

Proceeds will be divided between The Royal British Legion and the Jubilee Sailing Trust (tall ship sailing for able-bodied and physically disabled people).
