THE time: early-mid 2010s. The place: Windpump Lane, Creakebottom, darkest Suffolk.

Gus Blathermouth and his All-Male Amateur Dramatics Society of Creakebottom stage a Nativity play to pursue their theatrical dreams and to promote the real meaning of Christmas.

Their resolve is tested however when a big-wig producer from “that London” offers them a spot at a national theatre festival. Fame and fortune will come at the price of their message, leaving the men to ponder what matters most...

One of the men has deeper problems than the others: he’s a woman. Susie Pimpleknickers is desperate to get on stage, and in a bid to prove her acting talent has disguised herself as mysterious thespian Michael Outwit. What could possibly go wrong?

Emerging company Slingshot Theatre are building a fine reputation for leaving audiences with laughter-induced injuries and no more so than in this ridiculous comedy, jam-packed with humour for anyone aged over 10.

Running time: two hours (including 20 minute interval).

Sundial Theatre, Cirencester College, Wednesday, December 17 at 7.30pm. Visit sundial-theatre.co.uk.
