ONE of the greatest bands of the two-tone movement, The Beat, announce their return to Gloucester’s Guildhall, once again by public demand, on Friday, December 5, at 7.30pm.
Their dynamic material focuses on peace, unity and love, demonstrating their politicised and socially conscious sensibilities. Such an admirable take on music and their phenomenal delivery of it has earned them a loyal following both at home and overseas.
Known for their hit singles including Mirror In The Bathroom, Too Nice To Talk To, Can’t Get Used To Losing You, Hands Off She’s Mine, and All Out To Get You, The Beat formed in Birmingham in 1978, becoming an integral part of the same ska revival scene that spawned The Specials, The Selecter, and Madness.
Their current line-up features Ranking Roger and Ranking Junior on vocals, Everett on drums, plus Andy Pearson, Michael Billingham, Matt Godwin and Steve Harper on sax, keys and guitars.
The show is this autumn’s one-to-catch for all the ska, reggae and two-tone fans out there, as well as music lovers far and wide.
The gig takes place at The Guildhall, 23 Eastgate Street, Gloucester.
