MUSIC lovers are in for a treat this month as one of UK’s premier bluegrass, old time and Americana music events takes place in Gloucestershire from August 29-31.

Didmarton Bluegrass Festival will showcase some of the best in traditional American music and dance from the Southern States and Appalachian Mountains in a three-day extravaganza at Kemble Airfield Park, near Cirencester.

The international and top UK artist line-up includes award-winning Canadian songwriter Cara Luft, West Virginian fiddle player Rachel Eddy, and BBC Young Folk Award finalists The Carrivick Sisters.

Entertainment spans right across the weekend with colourful dance displays, concerts, workshops, square dancing, open stage performances, real ale bars, craft and instrument stalls and the festival’s famous late-night bonfires and fantastic jam sessions.

“If you’re a fan of Mumford and Sons or have ever seen Deliverance or a Cohen Brother’s movie, this could be your thing!” said Camilla Johns of the organising committee.

“The sound of banjos and fiddles drifting across the site is captivating.

“And there are opportunities everywhere to hear great music, try it for yourself and even dance the night away.”

Tickets for the weekend (including camping or caravan) are from £50, with day tickets also available on the gate.
