SAUL Waterways Pageant will be held over the August Bank Holiday weekend, Saturday to Monday, August 23 to 25 at the junction of the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal and Stroudwater Navigation.
The event will showcase features on and around the waterways.
As well as water-based competitions and demonstrations, activities will include walking, fishing and cycling as well as featuring live music, markets, refreshments and bar serving a selection of real ales.
Over the weekend there will be a market and a Boat Jumble will take place on the Bank Holiday Monday.
A daily historic lifeboat parade will take place and Severn Area Rescue Association will perform demonstrations throughout the event. The programme of competitions will include boat handling, best boat in bloom, illuminated boat display and best kept engine room.
Holding the event on the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal will also allow inland waterways access for sailing ships and other much larger vessels to attend.
The pageant will celebrate the restoration work taking place on the Cotswold Canals and promote the forthcoming Heritage Lottery bid by the Cotswold Canals Trust.
