THE third Cirencester Open Gardens event is being held in Chesterton on Sunday, June 29 from 2-5pm. Six gardens are opening. These are at 29, 31 & 36 Oaklands; 46 Somerford Road, 9 Chesterton Park and 8 Hanstone Close.
Along with old favourites there are new gardens opening this year reflecting the range of gardens in the area. One garden is a tiny organic plot incorporating interesting water retaining devices, such as a sedum roof. Many of the other gardens also have productive vegetable plots, including one which has an allotment attached. Between them they demonstrate a range of planting styles and design which means that there is something to appeal to everyone.
Admission to all gardens is £4 (accompanied children free) Tea and cakes will be available at 46 Somerford Road. Plants will be for sale at some of the gardens.
The gardens are part of over 40 which are opening on Sundays in June and July to raise money for Cirencester Housing for Young People, who work with young people in need of accommodation in Cirencester, Contact for queries: - Meg Blumsom Tel 01285 657696 or email megblumsom@googlemail.com For details of Cirencester Housing for Young People phone 01285 651227 or e-mail www.chypthecharity.org.uk
