WHO says that jazz doesn’t rock? Well you should have been at the opening night of the Cheltenham Jazz Festival when Jamie Cullum performed with his Big Band orchestra.

Jamie played a mixture of classical jazz songs and some new songs from his soon to be released 16 track album which was recorded in two days on an analogue tape recorder.

Jamie’s version of George Benson’s Sack O Woe was very haunting along with The Seers Tower using a Nina Simone rift. Jamie is a great performer as well as top musician.

He engaged in conversation with a girl in the audience about his song When I Get Famous; that song really rocked the house using the top of the piano as the stage.

When Jamie was playing not only was the audience engaged you could see that the fabulous musicians in the orchestra were all watching him equally mesmerised.

The jazz festival continues to bring the world’s top musicians to Gloucestershire and Jamie is up there as one of the world’s best.
