FOLLOWING a highly successful tour after the release of her eighth studio album Tales from the Realm of the Queen of Pentacles, pioneering American singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega returns to the UK.

With songs such as Marlene on the Wall, the Grammy-nominated MTV award-winning Luka and the hugely successful album Solitude Standing, Suzanne Vega came to be regarded as the vanguard of a new generation of female singer-songwriters.

Her career received an extra boost in the early 90s when UK-based dance duo DNA released a remix of a cappella song Tom’s Diner which charted worldwide.

Tom’s Diner takes place in Tom’s Restaurant on 112th Street and Broadway in New York city.

Exterior shots of the same restaurant appear in the renowned American television sitcom Seinfeld as Monk’s.

The DNA remix of the track was so popular that it inspired many cover versions, the best of which were eventually collected by Vega on an album titled Tom’s Album.

Her music has inspired a generation of female singer-songwriters such as KT Tunstell, Tracey Chapman and Alanis Morrisette From her self-titled debut to her latest release, Beauty & Crime, Vega’s ability to tell a story through song shines through.

Suzanne is just finishing her tour of Singapore, South Korea, Japan and Australia, where she has been getting stellar reviews.
