ANNOUNCING a major coup for Cirencester’s Brewery Blues… You could say Henry Priestman’s "got form". His previous work includes his own punk outfit the Yachts who supported the Sex Pistols in '77, and The Who on a European tour in '79. He then leapt to prominence with The Christians selling three million albums and sharing a mic and a number-one single with Paul McCartney.

With over 35 years at the top of the music business, in 2009 Henry Priestman (having not sung since 1981) bravely reinvented himself as a singer-songwriter, and released his debut solo CD The Chronicles of Modern Life to huge critical acclaim.

And now, at last, he’s just released the eagerly awaited follow-up entitled The Last Mad Surge of Youth. Released in February 2014, on Proper Records.

Whatever tag you put round his neck, don’t miss this troubadour of the north-west and his guitarist Les Glover at Brewery Blues on March 14.

Russell Joslin’s observations on everything we encounter in our individual journeys are so sharp, and yet so tender.

This is artistry so vivid it sometimes makes you cry.

Also don't miss Alexander Michael & the Native Tongue.

They are a raw, young six-piece combo from Bristol.

Devotees of the current folk/rock boom, they deliver genuine groove material, which is all delivered with the fiercest of conviction.
