AS CHRISTMAS fast approaches and another New Year is nearly upon us, the Bacon Theatre offers an exciting new line-up for the Spring season and a fresh new brochure design, packed with vibrant events to take us through to summer.

Spring at the Dean Close School venue in Cheltenham begins with Promenade Productions’ traditional pantomime, Robin Hood, and runs until early May, with a variety of events to suit all tastes.

Visitors can expect the enchanting classical ballet Snow White performed by the Vienna Festival Ballet; a humorous evening with the BBC Sports Commentator, Steve Parrish; an improvised musical production by the popular Showstoppers; an inspiring evening of spoken tales for adults in A Feast of Stories; plus a broad and stimulating season of cinema screenings, starting with the heart-warming film Song for Marion [PG].

Young audiences will be enthralled by Blunderbus Theatre Company’s irresistible live stage production How to Catch a Star, based on the children’s picture book by Oliver Jeffers, and the Easter Family Film for 2014 will be The Croods [U], the hilarious animated adventure for ages three years and over with Easter activities to boot.

Finally, live music lovers will be spoilt for choice with the spectacular Pink Floyd tribute band Darkside and the honey-rich melodies of Karen Carpenter in Voice of the Heart, as well as the welcome return of R&B and soul singer Ruby Turner to the Bacon Theatre for another charity concert in aid of Maggie’s, helping those with cancer.

“With enchanting classical ballet, improvised musical theatre, inspiring spoken tales for adults and irresistible theatre for children, plus Easter fun for our young cinema-goers, great live music and fantastic films, we hope there will be plenty for audiences to get stuck into at the Bacon Theatre in the New Year,” said theatre spokeswoman Jess Waterman.

All these events are now on sale at www.bacontheatre.co.uk or from the Bacon Theatre box office on 01242 258002.
