COTSWOLD Arcadians’ 2013 production Measure for Measure was awarded the Joan Hawkins Award for the best Shakespeare production at October’s Rose Bowl Awards – the South West’s Amateur Theatre ‘Oscars’.

Director Jonathan Vickers accepted an engraved Bristol Blue Glass bowl and acknowledged the commitment of everyone involved.

Spurred on by this success, plans are already afoot for the July 2014 production of Falstaff, a compilation of scenes from Henry IV and The Merry Wives of Windsor.

It is open to all, and there will be a read-through of the play on Monday, January 20, 7.30-10pm, followed by auditions from 2-5pm on both Sunday, February 2, and Saturday, February 8, all at Quenington Village Hall.

Falstaff has been accepted as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Open Stages programme, which means the group will have access to RSC resources for workshops and mentoring.

For the production to be a success Cotswold Arcadians need lots of help offstage, particularly with costumes, set-building, props and front of house.
