Robert Pattinson was warned by director David Cronenberg that he may get booed at Cannes
Robert Pattinson has denied claims that he will be appearing in the second Hunger Games film, Catching Fire.
The Twilight star was at the Cannes Film Festival, promoting his new film Cosmopolis, when he woke up to internet rumours linking him to the role of former Hunger Games victor Finick Odair - and he almost believed them for a moment.
"I woke up this morning and saw all these things about me being cast in The Hunger Games. I was kind of curious for a second. So I called my agent," he told USA Today.
"My agent was like, 'No. He was like no one's going to offer you that part. I was like, thanks for the reassurance," the actor added.
Robert - who won a standing ovation for his performance as billionaire Eric Packer in David Cronenberg's thriller at Cannes - admitted that the filmmaker had warned him that Cannes audiences can be harsh.
"David tells me the night before, 'I'm fully expecting some boos'. I was literally like, 'Why are you telling me this?'," he continued.
"I literally didn't watch one second of the movie, I was waiting for people to walk out. I was expecting a fight."
