FLYING at Kemble Airport has just been given permission to continue.
This morning, Cotswold District Council's planning committee voted to permit the airport's application for a certificate of lawful use.
The dispute with CDC had been rumbling on for the past three years, when council officials consulted a barrister after noise complaints began to increase.
Last November, CDC failed in its attempt to stop activities at the site after a technicality caused a public enquiry to be thrown out on the first day.
CDC gave operators three months to submit evidence for a certificate of lawful use.
But today's decision means there will be no restrictions imposed on flying activities at the site.
David Young, airport manager, said: "We're delighted, we're still waiting to have North Wiltshire District Council to make a decision, we believe they'll follow CDC, if that happens it's fantastic.
"We can put the past behind us, it's been a long wrangle. I think it's the right decision, I believe the CDC barrister was clutching at straws. We're very grateful to the planning committee for being brave enough to vote in favour."
