CRICKET: Lords Taverners back Lechlade

LECHLADE Cricket Club has received a further boost to its youth development plans with confirmation from the Lords Taverners that they will contribute to the proposed new purpose-built cricket nets at the Manor Ground.

The club, which has also received grant support from Gloucestershire Community Foundation, Gloucestershire Playing Fields, Lechlade Town Council and Cotswold District Cricket Association, are hopeful that they will be in a position to install the new facility in time for the 2008 season.

Kirstie Traas, Lechlade Youth Development officer, said: "The club is working hard to raise the remaining balance of monies to enable us to install the new nets in time for the season.

"This is a must as the indoor pre-season nets have shown we have a good number of talented young cricketers who will benefit.

"The club has worked hard to build up its youth section and is keen to hear from any coaches or volunteer parents who would like to become involved and help support this growing part of the club."

If you are interested in being involved or playing for the club, please contact club captain Paul Rowley on 07967 480 666.
