Auctioneer offers free workshops for amateur antiques enthusiasts

A SERIES of free workshops designed to help amateur antiques enthusiasts is being offered by Cotswolds auctioneers Moore Allen & Innocent.

The hour-long workshops are aimed at novice collectors, or anyone interested in buying or selling antiques at auction, and will be led by Philip Allwood who is well known for his work on television shows including Dickinson's Real Deal, Cash in the Attic, and Antiques Road Trip.

The themed series kicks off with sporting goods on Thursday, July 12, followed by pictures and paintings on Thursday, September 13, and china and glass on Thursday, November 15.

"These workshops are ideal for collectors who want to know their oak from their mahogany, their Arts and Crafts from their Art Nouveau, or their etchings from their engravings," said Philip.

The workshops run from 5pm to 6pm.

To book a place email fineart@mooreallen.co.uk or call 01285 646050.

Meanwhile, for owners simply looking for a valuation, a series of sessions will be held throughout the year.

Philip and his team will be at Moore Allen & Innocent's central Cirencester office in Castle Street on September 14, and November 16, the firm's offices at Knockdown, near Tetbury, on June 22 and October 5, and at the Lechlade branch on October 27.

Valuation events take place between 10am and 2pm.

Valuations can be given for auction or open market sale, for insurance purposes, or for probate and inheritance information.
