It’s a vintage affair!

McCarthy and Stone raises cash for Royal Voluntary Service in Gloucestershire

THE fine china was out as homeowners and staff at McCarthy and Stone’s developments across Gloucestershire welcomed local people to their vintage tea parties, to raise money for older people’s charity, Royal Voluntary Service.

Guests and homeowners took a trip back in time as they tucked into tasty treats including tea and cucumber sandwiches, as well as homemade cakes and scones.

The special events, which also took place at McCarthy and Stone’s portfolio of developments across the south west, raised over £400 and helped to kick-start celebrations for McCarthy and Stone’s 40th anniversary. In 1977, the award-winning housebuilder opened its very first retirement development, paving the way for the creation of an entirely new sector of the property market.

To honour this important milestone, McCarthy and Stone is partnering with Royal Voluntary Service on a series of events in 2017, with the aim of raising over £130,000 in support of projects across Gloucestershire and the rest of the country.

Simon Mantell, Regional Managing Director for McCarthy and Stone South West, said: “Our vintage tea parties were a great success and everyone who attended had a fantastic time. It was really rewarding to see so many new faces from the community come together to fundraise on behalf of Royal Voluntary Service, and I’m really proud of all our efforts.

“40 years is an incredible achievement for us, and is testament to the thousands of happy homeowners we have helped during this time. A McCarthy and Stone apartment is more than just a new home, it really is a lifestyle choice. With no maintenance worries homeowners are free to spend more time doing the things they enjoy; they can keep active by taking advantage of all the amenities close by, and take part in the various social events which make our developments such thriving communities. The vintage tea parties are just one example of this, and the many ways we like to support charities and organisations within our local community.”

Whether homebuyers require an abundance of outdoor space or a modern city suburb, McCarthy and Stone offers a tailor-made retirement to suit individual lifestyles. Apartments are currently available in areas including Tetbury and Stroud, all offering a stylish mix of one and two bedroom apartments, meaning retirees in the South West are just a move away from enjoying the perfect, stress-free retirement.
