Build progress: Steepleton retirement development in Tetbury continues to grow

New ‘village hall’ and communal spaces taking shape

Construction at Steepleton, a development for the over 60s in the heart of Tetbury, continues apace. The five acre site includes 113 apartments arranged into low-rise clusters that are connected by courtyard walkways, green spaces and kitchen gardens. A modern interpretation of the village hall, which houses many of the social, health and wellbeing facilities, is also included in the scheme.

Sales Manager, Terry-Ann Miller, who is based at the Steepleton marketing suite on Market Place in Tetbury says: “It’s particularly exciting to see the village hall structural framework now coming out of the ground. This will be our social hub, somewhere for those living at Steepleton to relax, be active, socialise and entertain. We’re keen to recreate some of Tetbury’s thriving, vibrant community magic for those living at Steepleton.”

The bold and experimental design has already won a prestigious Housing Design Award, specifically for the way in which it aims to meet the needs of today’s retirees. In a recent YouGov/PegasusLife survey 48% of respondents aged over 55 viewed retirees as sociable; 42% saw them as carefree and 38% as active. Facilities that are designed to support sociability at Steepleton include an outdoor swimming pond, restaurant, private dining room and lounge, a gym, spa, cafe and guest suites for visitors.
