A consultancy that strikes multi-million pound deals between landowners and housing developers in Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire has merged with Moore Allen & Innocent – the largest providers of agricultural expertise in the Cotswolds.

Graham Singer Chartered Surveyors was incorporated into Cirencester-based Moore Allen & Innocent on January 3, and the merger was officially celebrated on Tuesday, January 17 with a drinks reception for clients and staff.

Graham Singer specialises in negotiating on behalf of landowners with land to sell for residential development.

Recent projects include a 360 acre site at Tadpole Farm, in north Swindon, which was sold to Crest Nicholson for the erection of 1,700 houses, and 18 acres Whychurch Farm, at the edge of Malmesbury, at which Bloor Homes is building 180 houses.

At Marden Farm near Calne, Redrow Homes has begun work on a 125-house building project on a 30 acre site, and an application has been submitted to Wiltshire Council to build 70 houses on a 10 acre site at Patterdown Road in Chippenham.

In Oxfordshire, an application for 460 houses at Monks Farm Grove near Wantage is being consider by Vale of the White Horse Council, while a decision of 70 houses at a nine acre site at Foxfield Farm, Stanford in the Vale will be decided by planners on February 1.

Graham, the son of a farmer, joined the local Malmesbury firm of estate and land agents Fielder and Jones at the age of 17 and built up a reputation as an auctioneer at Swindon livestock market.

He quickly progressed to become an associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, becoming a Fellow in 1982.

At the end of 2001, after a 36 year association with Fielder & Jones, Graham decided to set up his own business with Jonathan Williams.

Mr Williams retired last year, prompting Graham to look for a business partner.

Graham is now a consultant in the merged firm, together with Margaret Flood, who provides a range of land agency services, and Karen Holdsworth, who provides administrative support.

Graham and his team will continue to be based at Warren Business Park in Knockdown, near Tetbury.

Graham said: “There is great affinity between Graham Singer Chartered Surveyors and Moore Allen & Innocent. We both have our roots in the farming community and share an ethos and values. I’m delighted the firm has become a part of Moore Allen & Innocent.”

Mark Hill, senior partner at Moore Allen & Innocent, said: “Graham brings with him a wonderful list of agricultural clients and a large portfolio of development property. We have known each other for many years, and will enjoy working together.”
