Thursday, November 10 2016 saw Volkswagen premier their new digitalised, updated 2 and 4-door Golf as well as the Golf GTI, Golf GTE and Golf Variant.

The main innovation for the 2017 model is a completely new generation of infotainment systems that can be operated by gesture control. One swipe gesture will move the horizontally arranged menu items left or right, taking the driver through the menu.

The Golf’s Active Info Display is a fully digital instrument cluster with numerous interactive functions. This gives a flexible display where for example in the Active Info Display, the speedometer and rev counter are moved to the sides to make more room for the map in the middle.

There is a more keener, more refined design on all versions of the new Golf to create an influential, powerful impression that include new front and rear bumpers, new front wings, new full LED tail lights, as well as new wheels and colours. The interior of the new Golf is finished off with refined new decorative trims and fabrics.

There is also a new benchmark in the compact segment for assistance systems with the City Emergency Braking with new Pedestrian Monitoring function, the new Traffic Jam Assist and Emergency Assist which significantly improving safety.

The new Golf sees the début of the new 1.5 TSI Evo turbocharged petrol engine, with a BlueMotion version soon to follow. A new 7-speed DSG (dual clutch gearbox) will gradually replace the 6-speed DSG as a high-efficiency gearbox for the Golf.
