ONE lucky bidder will be spending summer in style, after snapping up a motorhome from a Cotswolds antiques auction for £12,500.

There was nothing particularly antique-y about the 2007 Fiat Ducatto motorhome, with 53,000 miles on its 2.2 litre diesel engine.

Valuers at Moore Allen & Innocent had put an estimate of £8,000 to £10,000 on the windscreen, so were delighted with the final result.

And the motorhome wasn’t the only motor vehicle on offer at Moore Allen’s general and antique sale on Friday, July 22.

The car park started to resemble a car lot with the appearance of a classic BMW 528i, first registered in 1982 and kept in dry storage since 1999.

The green saloon had a shade under 58,000 miles on the clock, impressive for a 34-year-old car, and attracted a winning bid of £980, against an auctioneer’s estimate of £500 to £800.

Elsewhere in the sale, jewellery performed well with a collection of various gold watches including four pocket watches, an Omega gentleman's gold-cased wristwatch, and five ladies wristwatches achieving £1,700, around seven times the £200 to £300 estimate.

And a Feu Diamonds ‘Imogen’ cluster ring, the central oval cut topaz of 2.4 carats within a band of twenty small diamonds achieved £620 against an estimate of £500 to £800, while a nine carat gold cigarette case with engine turned decoration weighing around 55g, sold for £540, against a £400 to £600 estimate.

And in the furniture section, an 18th Century Dutch walnut and marquetry inlaid bombe chest decorated with birds and flowers sold for £460, while a Victorian gothic style oak pedestal desk achieved £400 against its £100 to £150 estimate.
