TEN buyers battle for each property.

There are now 10 buyers for every home on the market, according to the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) November Housing Market Report.

The disparity between housing supply and demand grew larger in November as the number of house-hunters rose by 20 per cent from the previous month.

“If you are thinking of selling, this is the opportune time to put your house on the market”, says Simon Merton, Partner at Strutt & Parker in Moreton in Marsh.

“The gap between supply and demand is common in November as house hunters looking to buy in the New Year register their interest before Christmas.

“Canny sellers should respond to this peak in demand and react now for the best chance to sell their home at a good price.”

Strutt & Parker’s Country Department has had one of their busiest December’s on record, reporting more prime country houses priced above £2million going under offer during the Christmas break than any other year to date.

Strutt & Parker are holding their National Open House Day on Saturday, February 27, in order for sellers to take full advantage of the current buyers’ market.

“We’ve picked this date as we know lots of people want to start their search at the beginning of the year”, says Merton.

“The great thing about it is that once viewers register, they don’t need any formal appointments.

“They can view any property, at any time, all on the same day, making life much easier for busy buyers.

“We have had some incredible stories of people just being curious about a house and not seriously considering buying, but going on to make an offer after viewing it on Open House Day.”
