A COMPANY that bills itself as a one-stop-shop for marketing and design has won Cotswold Business of the Year.

Big Yellow Marketing Communications, based in Siddington, won the top accolade from The Cotswolds Awards despite being in business for less than two years.

The business provides an eclectic service of marketing, graphic design, web design and social media, so that clients need never seek extra services elsewhere.

“I had just sold a business and I didn’t want to go back into a company, I wanted to be my own boss,” said Big Yellow co-founder and managing director Lorna Stevens.

With two decades of business experience to draw on, Lorna joined forces with Tony Hawkins who added a strong background in design to the mix.

“We put our arms around small businesses who want a push or need help getting to the market,” said Lorna, 47.

“We now manage social media for 22 businesses and have clients as far as Germany.”

Lorna and Tony, who is 45, have steadily grown the business, adding a new staff member every six months or so.

"They now have in their employ a web developer, social media manager, social media assistant and art director.

Their quick success, Lorna believes, is down to their savvy use of social media.

“We don’t want to be a massive company,” Lorna said. “It’s not just about quantity, its about quality too.

“When clients work with us they buy into the Lorna Stevens brand, if we became huge we’d lose that.”
