A CAMPAIGN aiming to boost the sleepy image of the Cotswolds has taken it one step further by sponsoring its own cycle team in the world’s only pop-up track racing series.

Rock the Cotswolds, set up by Cirencester businessman Oli Christie, strives to show people around the world that the Cotswolds is creative and cool rather than slow and sleepy.

Now the group is sponsoring a cycle team in this year’s StreetVelodrome in Cheltenham.

StreetVelodrome visits towns and cities all over the world in the summer with a pop-up track cycling circuit. The 2015 UK series is being televised on BT Sport and British Eurosport.

Carl Thompson, series director of StreetVelodrome said: “We are thrilled that Rock the Cotswolds is sponsoring a team this year, and next year we’re aiming to bring StreetVelodrome to the Cotswolds too.”

Rock the Cotswolds’ founder Oli Christie, said: “We love the whole ethos of StreetVelodrome: the adrenalin-filled excitement of it, the inclusivity, the fun and most of all being able to take the story of the Cotswolds to all corners of the England.”
