BERNARD Griffiths, owner of the Woolmarket hair salon in Cirencester, has retired after more than 30 years.

Mr Griffiths handed over the reins to the popular hairdressers to long-term manager Bruce Simpson at the start of this month.

Bernard Griffiths was one of the first firms to sign up to the Woolmarket when it first was created in 1981.

Peter Noest, of P H Gillingham; the firm that owns the Woolmarket in Dyer Street, said he was sorry to see Mr Griffiths retiring.

“We wish Bernard and his wife Jeanette a long and enjoyable retirement,” he said.

The Bernard Griffiths salon has now been renamed Salon Seven under Mr Simpson’s management and more changes are expected to come in the near future.

Mr Simpson said he felt like not much had changed since he had taken over as owner of Salon Seven. He added he has lots of plans in mind for the business but does not intend to rush into anything.

Mr Griffiths is currently away on a long holiday to celebrate his retirement.
