A FIRM in Cirencester which invented a device allowing vehicles to reverse safely is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

Sentinel Systems works in commercial vehicle safety and camera solutions and was set up by Bill Paulson in 1985. After years of experience in the haulage industry and seeing the effect of reversing accidents on vehicles and the often fatal consequences for workers, Bill invented and patented the Safetystop reversing safety system.

His system is now adopted all over the world, making it safer for commercial vehicles to reverse.

The firm has expanded over the years and will see further growth for its anniversary.

Managing director David Paulson said: “Sentinel’s primary mission is to help our customers save lives.

“We offer a range of solutions which helps them to protect their own staff and members of the public, as well as ensuring drivers get the best possible assistance in safeguarding expensive vehicles and minimising downtime.

“We will keep introducing new products making sure that we offer customers the best possible protection.”
