A COOKERY school in Lechlade is celebrating after being recognised at this year's British Cookery School Awards.

Dancing Trousers Cookery School, which was founded by BBC Masterchef contestant Alexis Thompson, was a finalist in the Best Small Cookery School category and runner-up in the People’s Choice Award for small cookery schools.

Alexis, who teaches small groups in her kitchen at home in Lechlade started the school in 2010. She was naturally delighted with the results after the ceremony in London on November 17.

“There are over 400 cookery schools in the country and we were up against some very worthy competition, so to be a finalist was very exciting” she said. “I’m particularly happy with our achievement in the People’s Choice category, which is voted for by customers. Many of our customers at Dancing Trousers have been very supportive as we’ve developed and grown, and even more importantly, they keep coming back."

Now, Dancing Trousers Cookery School is gearing up for Christmas and still has a few places left on its Chocolate Truffles class and Christmas Canapés class. Details on 01367 860144.
