GLOUCESTERSHIRE businesswoman Qing Lin inspired female entrepreneurs of tomorrow at Westonbirt School.
Qing is director of Join In China, a Stroud-based company which specialises in helping businesses break into the Chinese market.
She was guest speaker at the Inspiring Women day for year 12 and sixth form girls at the school.
Qing talked about her journey from growing up in Wu’xi City in China, to running a new successful business while balancing a social care role for the Chinese community in Gloucestershire and being a mother of two.
“I was honoured to be invited to speak at such a prestigious school,” said Qing. “In preparing the speech it gave me the opportunity to reflect on the journey I have made from growing up in China to where I am now.”
Other speakers included Lettie McKie, Education Manager for Dulwich Picture Gallery, Victoria Inskip, Associate Director, Savills, Jo Ogilvy Consultant, Saxton Bampfylde and Heather Wheelhouse, accountant for Baker Tilly.
Elizabeth Farnhill, from University of Sheffield, carried out a Critical Thinking Workshop and seminar.
Student Beth Motley said: “It was a fantastic insight to further education and alternative routes. All the speakers inspired me and I will take their advice away with me.”
“The day has taught me some important points and inspired me to go out into the world and really be ambitious for the future,” said student Annabel Bowen Nielson.
