Lechlade win after strong batting performance

Lechlade CC v Nationwide CC

IN THIS Wiltshire League Division One rearranged away fixture, Lechlade were invited to bat on a very good wicket.

They looked to get a good start before the rest of the league gets going next week.

Roger Pettifer and new boy, Damon Livermoor, got the innings going. Although Pettifer struggled, Livermoor started to score freely and the first wicket fell at 90.

Paul Godding, Anthony Pettifer and skipper Paul Rowley all chipped in with 20s to support Damon who finished on a fantastic 136 not out as Lechlade closed on 254-6, with S Lewis taking 3-64.

In reply, Nationwide started slowly against the bowling of Godding and Rizwan Hussan and were at 54 without loss by the 20th over.

Throughout the innings, Rowley rang the changes in an attempt to dislodge the Nationwide batsmen.

Unfortunately for Lechlade, Nationwide finished on 151-3.

Hussan at 2-31 and Joey Peerwalla at 1-13, from seven overs, were the pick of the bowlers.

For Nationwide, M Harris carried his bat for 55 not out and D Close notched 41. Result: a win for Lechlade by 103 runs.

Lechlade go to Box next week looking to continue this form in what should be a closely fought match.
