blues and beyond festival showing at easter

THIS Easter, April 13, 14 and 15 sees the third Stroud Blues & Beyond Festival.

The three-day event will include concerts, dances, workshops and open mic spots and will be held at The Space and The Subscription Rooms.

On April 13 at The Space, there will be an evening concert of top quality blues music with the outstanding band Bluze.

The Friday afternoon concert will start with patron to the festival Bob Tilling a hugely knowledgeable country blues performer/writer and successful artiste from Jersey.

He will be joined by festival favourite Dave Sutherland an accomplished country blues/singer/guitarist.

The Friday evening concert at The Space will see the master of the guitar Steve Phillips, one of the greatest blues guitarists Europe has produced. Supporting Steve will be Billy Newton and Lee Bates and Kevin Brown.

Saturday afternoon will start with three open mic spots for local musicians, Lee Bates and Billy Newton will be giving a set of guitar and harmonica tunes and Jamie Matthews will be joined by Daily Planet band members Leon Hunt and Dom Harrison to explore the blues via bluegrass, folk and jazz.

The Saturday evening concert will see the finale of the festival when the Animals and Friends perform at the Subscription Rooms.

Legendary for their multi-million selling anthem House of the Rising Sun the Animals achieved over 20 global top ten hits.
