Cirencester B's reach Division three

TENSION was high in Cirencester's B's final match of the year against New Red Saints.

This was to determine whether Ciren B would be promoted to a higher division for the third successive year.

Knowing the importance of the game, tensions were high but there was only one aim for each of the Ciren players and that was to win and everyone gave 110 percent.

Outstanding attacking play from Clare Wood (c) and Karen Briars (WA), who fed flawless shooters, Sarah Frodsham (GS) and Jess Sowden (GA), led to a healthy lead of 13 - 6 in the first quarter.

The second quarter saw more equal ball possession as NRS picked up their game and managed to decrease the goal difference to six.

However, the third quarter saw Ciren B take command of the game once more as defenders Hannah Potter (GD), Lisa Talintyre (GK), Vicky Hogetts (WD) and Jenny Webb (WD) made some timely interceptions.

This allowed the team to steal yet more goals.

With victory in sight and NRS having to accept defeat, the girls pulled away even further, leading to a final score of 46 - 32.

This was a storming end to the season and secured Ciren B place in Division Three next season.

Player of the Match deservedly went to Clare Wood (c) who has consistently played fantastic netball all season and who has also brilliantly captained the team alongside Pat Durham.

Thanks also goes to Alison Keylock, who nobly gave up her position so as not to upset the shooting harmony between Sarah and Jess.

Both captains would like to thank all the players for their hard work and commitment throughout the season.

Bring on Division Three.
