Table-topping Town thrash Cheltenham CS

Cirencester RFC 1ST XV 55, Cheltenham Civil Service 0

TOWN maintained their narrow leadership of Gloucester One with a comfortable win over their visitors from Cheltenham.

Cirencester dominated both possession and territory and were rarely put under pressure.

The forwards secured steady ball for the pacy backs and tries were scored at regular intervals and some occasionally sloppy handling saw several other opportunities go begging.

This victory secures promotion to Gloucester Premier next season but Myles Ferris will demand full concentration in the remaining two games and with the title still at stake.

This weekend, the squad have a rest from playing before returning for a key game against in-form Old Bristolians on Saturday, March 25.

Cirencester 2nd XV and 3rd XV both had late cancellations of their original fixtures and ended up playing a full-blooded inter-club game which finished with honours (but not pride) even at 17-17.

This Saturday, both teams are in the fixtures pool.
