Secular choir songs about nature

THE Birds and the Bees is the title of a secular concert to be performed by local Chamber choir, Cantores, with lots of delightful songs about nature at Leckhampton Court Hospice on Saturday, March 4 at 7.30pm.

There will be songs about birds including The Bluebird by Stanford, the Turtle Dove arranged by RVWilliams and a Victorian, poignant tale of love, The Goslings, by Sir Frederick Bridge.

Songs about bees will include the 16th century madrigal Sweet honey-sucking bees by Wilbye and a modern madrigal setting of the words Love in my bosom like a bee by the local composer Michael Gryspeerdt.

Tickets are £8 to include a glass of wine, available from Leckhampton Court or Lynne on 01285 642096. More information www.cantores.net
