COLD turkey on Boxing Day is a Christmas tradition long endured by the British.
But last week there was a bird in the window of a Lechlade butchers ten families would have struggled to finish by next year's Christmas.
Staff at A W Cutler, which is situated on Oak Street, dubbed the 70-pound beast Delia.
At around five stone in weight the bird is about four times the size of your average family Christmas turkey and is easily the largest turkey the butchers' had ever tried to sell.
And shoppers had a great time trying to guess her weight as they stocked up for Christmas.
Butcher Tony Cutler said: "It is definitely the largest turkey we have ever had - it's amazing really. Its legs are fatter than mine.
"When we heard it was 70 pounds we were expecting it to look bigger than it did, but it's still enormous. Someone said it was 28 pounds, but they were way off."
