Supermarket prize for Brinkworth mum

A FLYING visit to a Malmesbury supermarket proved a short but sweet experience for a Brinkworth mum of two as she walked off with £200 of festive goodies.

Fiona Fry, from The Common, completed a two-minute trolley dash at Somerfield early last Thursday morning after winning the top prize in Malmesbury School Home and School Association's 'trolley dash' draw.

The draw, which was held at school two days previously, offered the winner the chance to grab up to £200 worth of goods within the two minutes.

Mrs Fry and her children Caroline, 12 and Sam, nine, familiarised themselves with the store's new layout on the previous evening so they knew exactly what to go for on the day.

She said: "It's just a wonderful thing to win.

"I must confess I went for the wine and the Champagne first, followed by the chocolate and the meat.

"My children came with me and they were able to take part too. "That was lovely."

The draw, organised by Sandra Dunn from the HSA, raised around £300 for the school and included many other prizes, such as Christmas hampers, videos and a radio controlled car.

The HSA, which had never organised a trolley dash before, is always looking for more members to help organise fundraising events.

Anyone interested in joining can contact Sandra Dunn at Malmesbury School on 01666 829700.
