Girl barred from all pubs - at age 16

A 16-YEAR-OLD girl has been banned from every pub in Cirencester after throwing a brick through the window of The Black Horse.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was subsequently arrested and charged with the offence of causing criminal damage.

The incident happened on Friday, November 4 at around 10.30pm.

She later pleaded guilty to the charge at Gloucester Youth Court and was given a five-month referral order.

But this week the 16-year-old was also put on Cirencester's Behave or Be Banned Scheme (BOBS), which keeps offenders out of local licensed premises.

All this despite the fact she will be unable to legally buy alcohol except with a meal and adult consent for another two years.

Cirencester police confirmed the young girl, who lives in Chesterton, had been in the Castle Street pub on the evening in question.

Police spokesman Matt Ford said: "She was asked to leave on the basis of being underage.

"We would appeal to parents to check on where their children are going at night as this young girl shouldn't have been in this sort of situation."

Troublemaker Chris Wadley has also had his BOBS ban extended by three months for continuing to use members' establishments.

BOBS, which has the support of Cirencester police, was set up in April 2001 in a bid to keep problem drinkers out of pubs and clubs in Cirencester.

And vice-chairman Tony Smith told the Standard this week he is hopeful landlords will soon have access to photographs of offenders.

BOBS is currently in negotiations with Cirencester police about making mug shots available, which is the case with neighbouring pubwatch schemes.

Mr Smith also said there has been no increase in alcohol-related trouble in town since the recent changes in licensing laws came into force on November 24.

He said: "From a BOBS point of view the new licensing hasn't thrown anything up yet and let's hope it stays that way.

"However, while we do wish all Cirencester residents a happy Christmas, we would remind them any misbehaviour over the festive period will be treated as usual."

The full list of troublemakers currently on the BOBS list is: Emma Ayres, Josie Cobb, Lee Coleman, Gemma Coombes, Richard Crocker, Emma Crowcombe, Natasha Holder, Fred Jackson, Neil Killick, Simon King, Mark Long, Daniel McGann, Emma McGann, Luke Moisejevs, Steve Pollard, John Scrivens, Darryl Van Der Ven, Chris Wadley, Craig McAfferty, Ian McMilan, Dave Whiteman and Marlon Woodward.
