FUNDRAISER Catherine Ind will be hoping she hasn't bitten off more than she can chew when she jets off to the Big Apple in November.
The 39-year-old, who lives in Chesterton, Cirencester is taking part in the New York Marathon.
And she is already adhering to a strict training regime as she looks to raise at least £2,000 for the Meningitis Trust, which is based in Stroud.
Catherine said: "I do a 20-mile run every weekend and then in the week I'll do probably three or four sessions of about an hour.
"I'm not a runner by trade as it were but I have a programme which tells me what I should do each week. I have done the London Marathon before and the atmosphere is fantastic - it carries you along.
"It's a long way and hard work but the feeling at the end is just fantastic." The Meningitis Trust is a charity close to Catherine's heart as her young nephew Benedict suffered from Meningitis when he was three.
A close friend also overcame the disease a couple of years ago.
Catherine added: "It was serious at the time and my nephew was very lucky that he survived.
"I choose the trust because I have had personal experience with the disease."
Anyone who would like to sponsor Catherine or find out more about the Meningitis Trust should call 07974 102703 or visit www.meningitis-trust.org
