A FASCINATING ten-week course on the art of mosaic making is coming to the Corinium Museum, Cirencester.
The course, led by Museum Outreach Officer Jude Barrett, runs from 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Tuesdays, starting on September 27.
Costing £75, including all materials, it is suitable for anyone with an interest in learning about the history of mosaics and the techniques of mosaic design and construction.
The museum is renowned for its stunning collection of Romano-British mosaics, unearthed in and around Cirencester in the early 19th and late 20th centuries.
The course will give students the opportunity to develop practical skills involved in mosaic making, to be able to identify traditional Roman designs and use them to produce two original pieces of mosaic art.
Jude said: "This is a truly fascinating course, with the emphasis on practical mosaic making. It's suitable for beginners and improvers and gives people a hands-on chance to make a beautiful piece of art while learning more about life in Roman Britain."
Booking is essential - call the museum on 01285 655611 or e-mail jude.barrett@cotswold.gov.uk
