WW2 seen through children's eyes

A STRING of Pearls, which As One Productions brings to the Arts Centre, Swindon on Friday, September 16 at 8pm, is an innovative, new piece of theatre with music, a celebration of the Second World War through the eyes of women and children.

Devised and written by the company, the production is the culmination of 18 months' research and collation of around 150 Second World War memories sent in from all over the UK.

It celebrates the indomitable spirit of many unsung heroines and the events which could so easily have been the experiences of people who are still alive today.

Following the recent commemorations of the 60th anniversary of VE Day, A String of Pearls has been a success both with older audience members, for whom the music is particularly evocative and nostalgic, and also with the young who may be learning about this period at school.

Developed in conjunction with the Royal British Legion, there will be a collection on behalf of the Legion at the performance. Tickets on 01793 614837.
