Knicker romp at the Bacon Theatre

FROM pantaloons and pantalettes, to divided drawers, bloomers, bikinis and even the thong, you won't want to miss this romp through the history of the humble knicker which comes to the Bacon Theatre, Cheltenham on Thurday, September 22 at 7pm.

Internationally renowned author and actress Rosemary Hawthorne IS the Knicker Lady.

With a delightful mix of costume, social history and a dash of pure cabaret, Rosemary's Brief History of Unmentionables charges through 300 years of their history and introduces the myriad of characters who wore them.

She will also examine the social changes and attitudes that have determined the shapes and styles of underwear through the ages.

Rosemary, the quintessential English lady, is unique, witty and delightful.

Surrounded by old trunks, cases, boxes and an amazing array of costume and underwear from her own collection, she has been delighting packed houses all over the UK.

A RADA medallist with a passion for both costume and history, she is an entertaining and highly amusing speaker who is often seen or heard on television, radio, magazines and newspapers across the world.

The mother of seven children and married to a Church of England clergyman, she is also the author of seven books, with more in the pipeline. Her first book, Knickers: An Intimate Appraisal is now in its eighth edition. Tickets on 01242 258002.
