Hangers in Wroughton open to public

VISITORS to the Wide Open Spaces weekend at Wroughton's Science Museum on Saturday and Sunday, August 6 and 7, are in for a special treat as the museum opens up two of its hangars which the public do not usually get the chance to see.

Hangar 4 houses larger items dedicated to the mechanisation of agriculture and public transport over the last two centuries and includes horse-drawn, steam powered and petrol/diesel powered vehicles.

Hangar L1 is an Aladdin's cave of fascinating exhibits from witches' cauldrons to computers and trained tour guides will select the most interesting objects and explain the stories behind them.

Also on display will be a massive Fleet Street printing press, built in 1927 and visitors can learn all about its history from live talks throughout the day or from a special documentary.

Outside there are ploughing demonstrations using both vintage tractors and horse drawn ploughs and there is also a series of fun activities for children.

The event is free and is open from 10am to 4.30pm on both days.
