Fast and furious comedy in Oxford

SUMMER 1936 Chumpton-on-Sea, Somerset; newly married playboy Gerald Popkiss arrives alone at Rookery Nook without his wife Clara.

In the dead of night a beautiful woman flees from her tyrannical German step-father wearing only her dew-soaked pink silk pyjamas and begs Gerald to let her stay at Rookery Nook.

Touched by her innocence Gerald promises to help her. But how can he keep her hidden from Mrs Leverett the meddling maid of Rookery Nook?

The wild and wilful characters in Ben Travers' celebrated farce have delighted and entertained audiences for the last 80 years.

Relive the delirious mayhem of the 1920s in this fast and furious comedy treat from award-winning Oxford Stage Company at the Oxford Playhouse until July 30. Box office 01865 305305. www.oxfordplayhouse.com
