Exciting concert in South Cerney

A CONCERT to include Dodecantus, a 12-piece group from the Swindon/Cirencester area and the Pacific Lutheran University Choral Union takes place in All Hallow's Church, South Cerney on Saturday, July 16.

Dodecantus will perform a short opening set of song medleys from various musicals including South Pacific, Oklahoma, songs by Jerome Kern, and the Sound of Music featuring children from the Ann Edwards Primary School in South Cerney.

Pacific Lutheran University Choral Union is a nationally known community choir composed of singers from the surrounding Seattle, Washington area.

Their tour programme will feature contemporary North American choral literature, featuring Morten Lauridsen's Lux Aeterna, Eric Whitacre's Five Hebrew Love Songs, spirituals by Moses Hogan, and anthems by Carlisle Sharpe and Gwyneth Walker.

The program will also feature the song cycle Due North, by Canadian composer Stephen Chatman, and works by the group's conductor, Dr Richard Nance.

Choirs of all levels have commissioned works by Dr Nance and he was recently honoured as the featured composer for the National Conference of the American Choral Directors' Association.

Concert beneficiaries will be All Hallows Church and the South Cerney Playgroup. Tickets are £6 on the door or from South Cerney Post Office. Refreshments available.
