Swindon children 'evacuated' to Kemble

A GROUP of school children took a trip back in time last week when they were 'evacuated' to Kemble.

The pupils from Haydonleigh Primary School in Swindon arrived at Kemble Station where they were met by members of the Kemble and district Royal British Legion women's section.

The children dressed in clothes from the period as they re-enacted what it was like to be evacuated during World War II.

After arriving at the station the group were taken to the village hall where they enjoyed a talk given by real evacuees from the 1940s.
