Young folk fan spreads the word

ELEANOR James, a Year 12 pupil at Farmor's School, is a keen folk musician who has turned promoter and is spreading the word about folk music in the area.

A long time admirer of Tanglefoot, one of the best folk groups to come out of Canada, she has persuaded them to play at a concert at her school.

This takes place in the Arts Studio on Monday, June 20 as part of Tanglefoot's UK tour.

The school, and especially music teacher Tony Frewer, have been very supportive in helping Eleanor to put on this concert and the group has also agreed to hold workshops for pupils before the show.

Eleanor, who is taking music at A-level, plays the hammered dulcimer.

In 2002 she entered and won the Cornwall Young Folk Performers competition.
