Smith claims two trophies in kickboxing tourney

INSTRUCTOR Terry Saxton was on hand to offer sound advice to two of his Cirencester WUMA Kickboxing Club students who both enjoyed a success outing at the National Open Martial Arts tournament, held early this month in Worcester.

First it was the turn of brown belt Chris Smith to battle his way through many opponents to take second place in the light continuous category.

And he still had the strength left to enter the semi-contact section where he claimed another trophy for third place.

Next up was green belt Adele Batstone and, for her, it was a first experience of fighting in a tournament.

Even so, she was over the moon when emerging with a third-place trophy.

All in all, it was an enjoyable event and a good day's work by both Cirencester competitors who will be looking for repeat success in the coming months.
