Double champions CHQ FC celebrate best ever season

THE presentation evening for double champions CHQ Utd FC was held at the Plough Inn, Fairford, last Friday when some 60 players, officials and guests attended.

The club had recorded their best ever season in winning the Cirencester League Champion-ship and the Mills-Roberts Cup and they also were runners-up in the Senior Charities Cup.

The Reserves, although finishing bottom of division two, had brought some good young players through but suffered badly through not being able to field a settled team until the latter part of the season.

The awards were made as follows: 2nd team player of the year, Laurie Tompkinson; players' player, Robert Fletcher; clubman, Jason Winter; top scorer, Robert Fletcher; goal of the season, Karl Indge; most improved, Dan Combs.

First team player of the year, Adam Ockwell; players' player, Tom Coggins; clubman, Steve Reeves; joint top scorers, Matt Townsend/Ollie Newman; goal of the season, Tim Rossier.

Awards were also made to manager Bryn Skrine and to Andrew Easton who has been the driving force in the club for the past few years.

A special award was made to Jim Townsend in recognition of his 40-year involvement with the club. Thanks were extended to the Plough for constant support.
