Badminton youngsters just miss out on Tipton U12s title

COTSWOLD badminton players Laura Stratford and Megan Stancombe continued their run of good results this season at the prestigious Margaret Tipton U12 Berkshire open that attracts all the best players in the south of the country.

Only pushed by the Hertfordshire pairing of Isabelle Sadler and Claire Widdicombe, who they had already played and beaten twice this year, they won their group stages and progressed through to the semi-finals.

Up against England U13 player Emily Westwood, who had already won the singles, and her partner Anna Showan, who was the losing finalist, they knew it was going to be a tough game.

Despite taking an early lead, the Glo'shire girls couldn't sustain the pace and, making costly errors, they lost the game 15-4.

However, they will be pleased with their semi- finalist medals and will use the experience as a chance to identify and work on aspects of their game.
